A-catering we will go....
One party down, one to go. Yesterday, we had the clothing exchange party at my place. There were five of us, all pretty close size-wise, so it worked out pretty well. B. & I pretty much traded closets because we have similar sizes and styles and are the only ones who need lots of "work clothes." I served tea, with lots of sweets and such. Twas yummy, but as usual, I overcooked.
Tonight is book club at my place. I'm a bit nervous that we'll have an overload of people in my living room, because so far, the only definite cancellation I've seen has been from someone I didn't even know was in the group. Worst case scenario, we'll have 12 in my living room. I managed to cram seating for 9 in there comfortably last night, so I may have to go find a few more chairs quickly this evening, and we'll all be quite cozy. I'm serving vaguely Greek things tonight (Baklava, hummus, date squares, feta dip) since we read Middlesex. Should be fun.
I got confirmation from Franklin this weekend that they do still offer the Professional Certificate in Computer Science. Since I'm only two classes away from that, I think I'll go back and get that done this year. That way, at least the classes I've already taken will count for something. And I still get to quit school like I've been saying.
After all the planning & cooking for this weekend and tonight, I think I've decided that if I ever decide to change careers entirely, catering might not be a bad option. I'm good at planning things out, and I like event planning, decorating, presentation of foods, etc. The variety would be good, but I'm not so sure I'd enjoy the working with people aspect. Maybe if
automat76 opens up Jolita's Starlight Lounge, I can be Chief Bigwig in Charge of Catering and Events. I need a better title than that though.
