Piercing fun!

Friday night, [livejournal.com profile] automat76 and I drove up to Cleveland, to the Grog Shop to see Rasputina. The show was excellent, and I was especially thrilled because they played their cover of Heart's "Barracuda" which I love. They made everyone sit down on the floor so we could all see too, which was excellent.

At some point during the show, I realized that the bead on one of my rook piercings was missing. I've had some of my ear piercings for up to 10 years, so I don't remember to check my jewelry very often.

So Saturday, after getting up very very late (we didn't get back from the show until 4 am), I decided to walk over to Piercology to get the bead replaced. In the process of deciding to go, I talked myself into at least asking if they'd pierce my nose with a nostril screw rather than a ring. I wasn't sure if they'd allow that for initial jewelry or not. I decided that based on that answer, I'd make up my mind on whether or not to do it. I've wanted my nose pierced since I was 16. I figure since I've waited nearly 12 years and still want it, this is not the phase that my mother chalked it up to when I was a teenager.

So I walked over there. I ended up having to replace the entire ring in my rook because they couldn't match the bead. And the answer to the nostril screw question was "yes." So I picked something out and signed my paperwork. They gave me a pager so I could wait downstairs in their coffee shop (aptly named The Waiting Room). I went down there and had just enough time to buy a juice and send a text message when I buzzed.

The first thing I said to the piercer after it was done was, "I remember why I used to do this." Holy adrenalin rush batman. Wow. Not that much pain at all really--I'd put it on the same order as an earlobe piercing. Not nearly so bad as cartilege.

And so, because I've never had good pictures of my piercings, I took a few this afternoon, in honor of my newest addition.

My navel: (currently wearing a 12g titanium ring that was once upon a time in my nipple, before both of those migrated and I took them out.)

My right ear, featuring 2 helixes (16g black niobium), 2 snug/mini-industrials (16g curved barbells, one unfinished), and 2 lobe piercings.

My leftear, featuring 2 rooks, 2 helixes (all 16g) and 2 lobe piercings.

My nostril (18g stainless steel nostril screw) Tiny tiny tiny!

I think the bug may have bit me again. I'd love to have my tongue re-done, though that was the worst healing experience ever. In the short term, I think I will have my snug finished. There's a lot of scar tissue from two failed attempts, but they assure me it can be done. I considered it yesterday, but I thought it was probably a bad idea to be healing the left side of my nose and my right ear at the same time, as sleeping might prove difficult! :-)

Actually, 15, because the snug things are two holes a piece (and one is lacking on hole at the moment). They go in the inside of my ear and out the back, then in through the back and out the outside front.

But then again, who's counting. :-)
