Afghan progress

Four of five rows are sewed together in a big mass of blanket. The last row is blocking and can be sewed on and attached to the rest tomorrow. I've started picking up stitches for the border. I am pissed off that the stupid pattern had me buy two balls of pink yarn that's used very sparsely for embroidery, but only one ball in the color I need to go all the way around the afghan after being used in several motifs. Grrrrr....I might have to take an emergency trip to get yarn tomorrow. Otherwise, the blanket is going to have a two-tone border, which won't be quite as polished looking.

Either way, I think I can get this done soon. If not tomorrow, then sometime this weekend. Many photos will appear at that point. All that barring any hand problems. My right wrist acted up somewhat this evening while working on the top border. I think it's from the weight of the blanket.

I worked out a quick calculation using the basic gauge and stuff to estimate how many stitches went into this afghan. Not including embroidery or frogging, and not including extra stitches on the lace motifs, we're in the 48,000 range. No wonder this has taken so long.

I took Friday-Tuesday off, so I'm back at work today. And, I'm feeling okay, given that I shunned beer in favor of expensive vodkas. Mmmmmm....

Good choice! Vodka soda's are the best way to enjoy drinking and the next day. Did you do anything else fun for your bday? Any good presents?

Other than that, I really just sat on my ass, and liked it. Mom and Dad got me my fiestaware mixing bowl set, which I had known about, and then promptly forgotten, so it was still a surprise. Those came in handy for Iron Chef Family Dinner: Wasabi on Sunday. :-)
