Eka Pada Rajakapotasana was the pose we worked on in class tonight. That’s one legged king pigeon pose (picture here ). Our teacher had a story about a woman who started working with this one at age 50 and got it at age 60. So I think I have some time to work on it. This is actually one of my favorite poses, despite the fact that I’m nowhere near doing it without props (mostly blankets under the front leg hip). It’s such an opener for just about everything.

I forgot to tell the funny story from last night about C. at dinner. I got to the restaurant first (the Japanese Steakhouse, where they cook your food at your table) and he and S. walked in a few minutes later. Apparently C. has joked around with the owner before. However, he hadn’t seen him in about 9 months. But when he walked in the owner ran up front, and the two of them proceeded to pretend to fight each other for several minutes. S & I were cracking up because the owner is built just like C except he’s much smaller, so it was very comical. Then the owner yelled, “Do you know sumo?” and grabbed C. around the waist and picked him up. C. then called him an ant, saying he could lift hundreds of times his own weight. All in all, quite funny.

Must run to the shower now. We are having a surprise bday drink for B. and I’m going to be late already.
