Maybe I get this after all

This weekend was far more productive than I expected. I didn't make it to take my midterm until much later than I'd intended yesterday, due to a Halloween party induced hangover (the saloon girl outfit was a hit--I hope to have photos soon), but when I got there, it turned out to be much easier than expected. There were multiple choice, true/false and matching questions, in addition to the code writing, which I hadn't realized going in. I think I'll save my grade in that class yet!

Then went to Sambot's 1st birthday party, four hours late. He was super giggly and fun, and demonstrated his dancing and coffee table climbing (and walking off of) skills. Fun. :-) M & her boy had free tickets to the OSU hockey game, so automat76 and I tagged along with the two of them, and M's mom and one of her sisters, which was fun. Then went to the Dube, for an excessive amount of food which pretty much caused food coma for the remainder of the evening.

I put off starting to work on my program until late today in favor of house cleaning. But now, I have a reorganized closet and dressers, and almost all the dishes are done. If I can clean the bathroom and mop the kitchen this week, I will be a happy woman.

And, I think I'll actually get the program finished by the due date tomorrow. I have most of it coded now, with the exception of a few small error checks and some basic math stuff that really shouldn't take more than an hour or two. I'm going to try to write my test plan during lunch tomorrow, then tomorrow night, I have to put some Exception handling statements in. It does compile other than those right now though, which is well beyond where I was on this last time. Woo-hoo!!!!

Am now going to go to bed, even though I'm not tired. I had salmon for dinner (thanks automat76!) and I'm still very very full. The winter feeding has begun (despite today's 80 degree weather.)

Notes to self...

Forgot to mention the two things that I learned Friday night.

1. Do not eat Chipotle when you know the outfit you have to put on an hour after dinner involves a corset.

2. Do not ever ever ever use velcro rollers in your hair again. Yes, they make it curly, but there is much ripping and tearing involved in pulling them out, and it doesn't last long enough to be worthy of the pain!!!!

When will I learn!

To not procrastinate?? I got the all the classes in my program to compile (woo-hoo!) Then I went to execute the thing, and I got an error. It has something to do with the way I'm storing things, and somehow, despite the fact I'm checking for it, it's trying to parse a null value into a float variable, which is, of course, not working.

So, I had a couple of hours before I had to turn it in. Figured I'd go ahead and FTP the thing to the UNIX box and see what happened.

HA! It blew up. Errors everywhere. Can't find the classes, so can't run anything, blah blah blah, so it won't even compile there. And this prof grades on that box, rather than a Windows PC, like the one I had last time. Hmmph.

Well, last lab, I managed to get enough points that I'll eke by. And I do think I got a fairly decent grade on the midterm, though I won't know until next week for sure. And I'm exhausted right now, which means that I'm likely to do more damage than not if I continue to try to fix this thing. So, I submitted it. And am now going to bed. I feel like I'm coming down with something anyway.

Hopefully I will become cheerier tomorrow, because I have a stats quiz to study for. Yuck!

I am also depressed that if I continue at the rate I expect to, I will be 31 or 32 by the time I finish this degree, no matter whether I continue with the BS, or just fulfill my "remedial" requirements and get into the MS program. Maybe I'll cut my losses and just take the professional certificate after next trimester. I think I'll talk to my boss and find out what that would get me jobwise. Possibly more than I think.
