With a vengence!!

My ovaries have decided to take over my body this morning. Actually, they started their campaign last night.

I'm on the pill, and my doctor has me taking it for three months straight, so I only have my period four times a year, due to my migraines. I think I screwed up and took four packs straight instead of three, and my body knows it. So it's started with breakthrough bleeding, and a heavier dose of PMS symptoms than I've had since high school.

I hope this doesn't mean this is going to go on for two weeks. Next week is supposed to be my placebo week. Ouch.

I think this is punishment for not having remembered to put my mom's mother's day gift in the mail yet. I thought about driving it down as a surprise, but I can't be in a car feeling like this. So I shall call and plead my case instead.

Finally...

Found the 2004 Lollapalooza schedule. I *must* go, because this is so far the only announcement of any US touring PJ Harvey is doing for the new album, which comes out next month.

Dates here

She is supposedly doing some of the August dates, and the Ohio date (Blossom in Cleveland) is in August--but I have no confirmation that she's doing *all* of the August dates. So I need to find that out. If she's not playing here and is playing elsewhere, the free plane ticket that's burning a hole in my pocket is taking me to see her. I will not miss PJ Harvey!!!

Oooh....NYC on my birthday? That might work.

A couple of people have posted this, and I think it's pretty cool:

Guess how old I am.

I'm tempted to also post a picture of me in costume as "Midge" and see if anyone guesses that I'm really 73.

Edit: 15 people have guessed my age. The *average* they've guessed is 35. That's not a great photo of me, but it pretty much accurately represents the way I look. But I don't think most people think I'm 8 years older than I actually am. Or maybe they do. Wow.

So I thought it was slightly odd that my mom wasn't at home earlier when I tried to call to say Happy Mother's Day, but she and dad do go running around on Sundays since it's their only day off. She did have the answering machine on though, which was a little strange, but at least allowed me to leave a message.

She called me back about 20 minutes ago. They spent part of the day in the emergency room in the Delaware hospital. Seems they took grandma and grandpa to Delaware (city in Ohio, not the state) to go to the antique show there. Grandma isn't supposed to be in the sun, because of one of her meds (I think the beta blocker?) so she wore a hat (Which I need to explain to her isn't going to work. Last time I saw her she explained this to me.) But she ended up getting dehydrated, and after they had lunch, thought she was having a heart attack in the antique mall they were in. She flagged a guy down in the aisle to call 911, then promptly went into such a catatonic state that my mom really thought she was dying right there. She came to when the EMTs came though, enough that she could tell grandpa where in her purse her med list was.

Turns out, her knees felt week, so she took two sprays of nitroglycerin. Not good. Not only are weak knees not a sign of a heart attack, but my grandmother has very low blood pressure and a slower than normal heart rate anyway, so the nitro caused her blood pressure to drop dangerously. This happened once before without the nitro last summer when she was doing yard work. She's ok now, and all her tests came out ok, plus she has her regular appt with her regular doc in Springfield tomorrow.

My mother told grandma they are no longer doing anything on mother's day, because this is the second time in three years grandma has ended up in the hospital. :-) Mom also is trying to get her to carry bottled water with her so this doesn't happen again (my grandmother is pickier about tap water than I am). I may knit her the bottled water holder from Hollywood Knits. It's got a strap like a purse on it, and if I make it kelly green, it will match all her outfits. If nothing else, we can guilt her into using it since her granddaughter knitted it for her. That's a good use of guilt I think. :-)

I'm off to bed now. I'm up to the bust shaping on the tank top and really having a hard time getting myself to work on S&A's throw, especially since I got a shipment of dpns from an ebay auction yesterday, and now have all the needles to make my first foray into sock knitting.

Matching socks and water bottle carrier? Grandma would soooooo dig that.
