So the odd thing is that in addition to getting calls from recruiters, I got a call today from City Center, regarding
the contest thing. It seems I'm now one of four finalists in my category. Thing is, there were only four entrants last I saw, but I'll take what I can get.
The conversation went like this:
Her:I have a couple of questions for you. Do you have any writing experience, like newsletter articles or anything?
Me: Actually, my degree's in writing, and I've had a couple of communications jobs, briefly wrote for Columbus Alive...
Her: OH!
[I realize this was far more info than she wanted, and that "um, kinda..." might have been more along the lines of what she was expecting.]
Her: When is the last time you shopped at City Center?
Me: Yesterday.
Her: Great. Can you make a photo shoot from 10-2 next Wednesday?
WTF? Photo Shoot? I'm not the most photogenic person on earth, and have no idea how I'm supposed to take four hours out of the middle of the day to go do this, especially if I get called for any actual job interviews. She said we might be able to narrow it down, so if I can get her down to 2 hours, I'll just take a long lunch that day and go. The writing question was weird though. I'm thinking this $500 prize may be their way of getting a cheap spokesmodel/column writer (for god knows what.) Very strange. We shall see how this develops.
