I'm liking the new cube location so far. It's much quieter, and the people around me aren't having loud, non-work appropriate conversations. Definite improvement.

Just got a confirmation for my submission to KnitLit3, that I sent last week. It's not the greatest thing I've ever written, but all their pieces seem to be more about content than literary ability, so I think I may actually have a shot. That would be cool--an actual writing credit on a knitting topic. I haven't had anything published since my short string of poetry successes right after college, so this would be fun.

Knitty rejected the first of the two patterns I am sending for the winter issue, which I do think was the weaker of the two. It's called "Peepers" and is an intarsia eyeglass case designed to use up odds and ends of yarn. My prototype wasn't the absolute greatest, so I'm not surprised they didn't take it. I will post the photos and chart/pattern later on probably. I figure I need to give out some free patterns in order to figure out if I'm any good at writing them at all, if I ever want to do this on a regular basis.

Once I get my friend J's website done (for her historical costuming/bridal biz -- which she wants by the end of the month) I'll probably start tackling my own knitting site. I worked up a logo last week, but haven't touched it since. I'm thinking of a blog and free patterns at first, with patterns for sale and other stuff later on. The domain name I want is available still. I may post some stuff on ebay to finance that, because I really can't justify the expense otherwise without some revenue producing items on the site. I need to find a good cheap host too.

I still have the second piece to finish before the 15th to submit to Knitty. It's about 30% done. Since we ended up taking [livejournal.com profile] automat76's car instead of mine this weekend, I was able to knit in the car and make some headway. And, if I get really behind, I can lop off some of the extraneous pieces (pockets, etc.) that I think will look nice, but that aren't necesarily required. I think I'll take it to the SNB tomorrow night too, because it's a pretty mindless pattern (basketweave) that I can do while chatting and ingesting caffeine at the same time.

After that, I *must* get back on track for holiday gifts. My grandma's sweater vest needs to be started, but I need to get some experience with cables first. I'm not that behind yet, but I keep starting projects for myself (like the sock, which is still no further along.) Thankfully, I've got next Monday off for Columbus Day, so I can hopefully use that as a knitting sweatshop day.

Hmmmm...I decided to test out lj's photo hosting by uploading my draft of my business card for the proposed knitting business. Not sure this will work. I think my thought about what the goal of the hosting service was is different from what the goal actually is, so this didn't seem very intuitive to me. I'd have put it up at fotki, but can't download the client to this computer. Hmmmph.

Anyway, for lack of way to use an img tag, here's my link to the logo.

Nanowrimo To-Do List

-Get official names of medical terms (headache inducing benign tumor; vestigial twin?; hypochondriac conditions)
-tumors and psychic ability

-Cecilia??? -- does she have her own plot? ??s as to her existence -->at what point is her "origin" revealed?
-Confirm Stephen King book: The Dark Half?

-Flesh out characters
-Other characters: mom, real sibling? (for conflict with Cecilia), equally wacky friends, or are they more grounded/conservative?
-mythological sources for names -- is this hackneyed?

-plot--look at books that take a character from childhood/adolescence on. What do they leave in/out? How to do this in a manageable number of pages/chapters
-plot outline? -- non-chrono--how to write it?
-->don't label chapters, you'll kill it.

Got a flyer in the mail today for a new Chinese restaurant in Grandview. Under beverages, it says:

Milk.....$.90
Soda.....$1.00
Tea......$.90
Ice Cream...FREE

I'm thinking someone confused ice water and ice cream. Who wants to go demand free dessert with me?
