I have just now sufficiently grossed myself out by searching for information on spiral fractures in the hand. Ick. From my brief, non-medically trained perusal of results from google, I have ascertained the following:

-It could be much much worse.
-A lot of human hand xrays make them look like ape hands.
-It looks unlikely that I need a pin, due to the fact that the fracture is not very long.
-However, the weird rotation of my pinky in the ER points toward surgery.
-If I would need surgery, I'd guess 2 or fewer pins/screws to be necessary.
-The plastic surgeon they're sending me to lists his specialties as breast surgery, and facial aging surgery. However, he has surgical privileges at Children's.
-I can find no info that gives any idea of how long I will have mammoth hand.

Many people at work have joked that I must've beaten someone up. I have just now learned that straightline fractures in this area are actually referred to as "Boxer's fractures." Too bad mine's not a straight line.

I. WANT. TO. KNIT. Right after I wash my hand. It's killing me.

I shall stop now before I get too whiny.
