Excellent news!

I am typing this while (temporarily) out of my splint! The plastic surgeon declared me to not need surgery, and said I can just wear the splint as I need it until Monday or so, then I just have to tape the middle and ring fingers together for the next six weeks. This means:

I can knit! And can probably get my gifts done on time!
I can likely do nanowrimo still!

I am toying with the idea of not wearing the splint tonight, but that's probably not wise at a Halloween party. The thing smells quite unpleasant now that the air can get to it though.

My hand looks ridiculous--it's all white and pruny, and the top is bruised yellow and slightly swollen and the palm is bruised black. I think I have a bedsore near my wristbone too.

Now I'm going to shower. With both hands. Hooray!!!

Even though I'm okay without being in it, my mom still did all my dishes, and mopped my floor. Dad got my storm windows down, then it got so hot and muggy out I actually had to turn the air conditioning on!

YAY! That's excellent news. I bet it will feel soooooooo good to wash your hand and wrist!

Woohoo!!! Yay for your improvement! Not knitting would drive me crazy.

When the nurse took it off, she laughed because when said, "just keep it fairly still until the doctor comes in," I gave the sink a fairly lusty look and asked if I could wash it. I just spent about 20 minuts in the bath tub and shower massaging it with warm water--my wrist is super stiff!

I had to hide all my yarn-- the psychological impact of seeing it all laying around was making me nuts!

I am ecstatic!

Oh man, I don't know if I could've behaved myself. I'm glad it's well on its way to healing!

Wow! You are already out of the cast? Daaaaaaaaaaaaaang...I was in mine for six weeks. Lucky you!!

Apparently, it's a fairly new school of thought, but the doctor says they rarely put adults in casts now because of the loss of mobility you get after being immobilized for so long. Sounds good to me!!!
