Long weekend, with virtually no progess on knitted gifts. Ooops.
Friday was a double feature at Studio 35: Garden State and I [heart] Huckabees. I'd seen GS before, and like it, though the ending is really quite flawed to me. I liked Huckabees so much better than I'd expected. Especially the Magritte jokes.
I knitted on dad's hat, and Sambot's hat while there. Finished Sambot's hat Saturday, then proceeded to work on my sweater until about 2 am, pretty much nonstop, except to stop and make some tortilini. While draining the pasta, I managed to drop boiling water on my foot. And of course, my instinct was to save the pasta from going down the drain, rather than getting the sock off my foot. So I've got blisters developing. Yay.
I decided it was ok that I was working on the sweater rather than gifts, because I'd spend all day Sunday on gifts. So I started with 2.5" of ribbing, and ended up with about 8" of sweater. And then I spent all day Sunday making cookies rather than working on gifts. Sigh. Guess I know what I'm doing every night this week. I only have one hat to finish, one child's scarf, one adult scarf, three felted flower pins, one more adult hat, and grandma's sweater vest to finish. Those all have different deadlines, but the big ones I have until Christmas and the day after, so that's still two weeks. Shouldn't be that bad.
Child's scarf, by 12/18 (not started)
Three felted flowers, by 12/23 (partially started)
Adult hat with eyelash brim by ?? (not started)
Adult hat by 12/25 (1/2 done)
Adult scarf by 12/25 (not started)
Sweater vest by 12/26 (almost 2/3 done)
And hopefully my sweater by 12/26 so I can wear it at my grandparents house.
Sunday's cookies included:
Cranberry Almond Cookies
Almond Apricot Tea Cookies
Banana Oatmeal Cookies
Pumpkin Ginger Muffins
Macaroons dipped in chocolate (these fell apart, but were mighty tasty)
All the recipes were from How it All Vegan and The Garden of Vegan, except the muffins which were from Deborah Madison's giant Vegetarian book. I even steamed a whole pumpkin for those!
I think I may make more muffins tonight, or maybe pumpkin bread, as I have lots of leftover pumpkin and cranberries. Then again, I may need to just concentrate on putting my kitchen back together. I have two or three other cookie recipes I want to make too though, so maybe I'll bake and knit, bake and knit.
Don't ask me when all of these will actually be consumed. I may take some home with me when I go to mom and dad's and I took some last night to ICFD, but there are a ton of cookies. A ton!
Almost didn't go to ICFD because the ingredient was meat, but decided to compromise and go late with cookies and miss the main meal. I'm glad I did because Jack was there, and holding a chubby baby did wonders for my mood. He's such a happy boy. I haven't really gotten to see him much since they moved to Cleveland only a couple months after he was born. Was glad to see that he does have a large noggin' meaning the hat I made him won't be too overly large. :-)
