(no subject)

This is half for my own head clearing, and half as a "if I'm not in communication, there's a reason" explanation.

I have 5 days left to finish knitting the Great American Aran Afghan in order to make it for the state fair. I have 1.5 squares to knit and block, all 20 to sew together, and about 80% of the border yet to go.

So far this week, I have knitted walking down High Street to a movie at the Wexner Center (yarn in backpack, working border on small circular needles--I'm more coordinated than I thought) and in the dentist's chair (much to the amusement of everyone who worked there, though I wasn't able to do it while they were actually working on me) as well as my normal during-movie and in-bar knitting.

If all goes the way it's looking, I may also be knitting at a bowling alley, our knitting spa day, and my book club in order to make the deadline. I wonder how much more knitting in public I have to do before I become an official Short North street character?

Anyways, the schedule for the next few days goes like this:

tonight:
-knitting
-perhaps Rebel without a Cause at the Ohio Theatre

tomorrow:
-Rebel... if I don't see it tonight
-knitting
-pick up bridesmaid's dress from tailor

Saturday:
-knitting
-cooking if I think I can do spa day
-Top Hat at the Ohio Theatre
-Ohio Theatre tour
-bowling in evening

Sunday:
-knitting spa day if I have enough done to work on it with other people present (and really, who am I kidding? I'll probably want to show off!)
-knitting, or more hopefully, sewing the damn thing together

Monday:
-final day for sewing up
-potentially book club, but it doesn't look good (when will I read the book??)

Tuesday:
-drop off afghan at fairgrounds by 7 pm, along with two other projects (oh yeah, one needs re-blocking)
-pick up someone from airport??

Wednesday:
-Stitch n' Bitch (I'll get to start a new project!!!!)
-catching up on sleep!

Thursday:
-off work, spend whole day at Aveda Institute
-pack for weekend
-Vertigo at Ohio Theatre in evening

Friday:
-possibly knitting at Knitter's Mercantile
-possibly dropping people off at airport
-drive to Cleveland
-rehearsal dinner

Saturday:
-hair appt
-wedding
-reception

Sunday:
-post wedding breakfast
-drive home (stop at Fine Points in Cleveland??)

Monday:
-off from work
-pick up anti-grinding device at dentist

And somewhere in there, I owe several people phone calls, and coffee and emails and such. And oh yeah, I have a full time job too.

Actually, it's not a hard pattern at all. There's only been one square that I've deemed too hard to attempt, and if I weren't under the gun, I'd probably have tried harder on it.

Without a deadline, it wouldn't be bad. It's actually been a very fun project. Not that I'm trying to be an enabler or anything. :-)

It's not the difficulty that's making me say "don't do it" but the time. Maybe years from now when I have no kids @ home. ;)
