Productive!

Went to the eye doc today. Had a different doctor, who I liked much better than my normal one. Found out that I *am* getting blinder. My glasses prescription went up about 4 notches in my right eye, which explains why I couldn't see to drive in my glasses. She also fitted me for Acuvue 2, which are so much more comfortable than my normal Acuvues, which I've worn since 1990. She even had me try on two different pair to check.

After that, I went to the frame shop in Grandview, and picked out framing for the tree photo I took in Massachusetts, during my stay at Kripalu. The woman at the shop really really liked the photo, which made me feel good. I got it double matted, so it's going to be fairly expensive, but I think this one is worth it.

Then stopped by Byzantium, to get some beading supplies for holiday gifts. Spent $80 on beads (which will be a great deal, because that should get me through about 10 gifts). Promptly got home, and realized that I had more beads here than I'd remembered, along with about 40 necklace findings, and enough earwires to make about 50 pairs of earrings.

I slogged beading the first gift this afternoon, and broke it twice. I fixed it the first time, but then when it broke again I realized I need to be double stringing these if they are going to hold up at all. I may knot all the beads too, which should make them sturdier too. So I put that away for today, because I have a quadruple 30th bday party to go to (no, it's not one 120 year old person, but rather 4 hitting 30) and don't have time to finish it. I do like the design though. I just hope I found all the beads when it broke because they went everywhere.

I did make myself a pretty cool pair of earrings to wear tonight in about 10 minutes.. They are pink and black (my new favorite) and feature vintage speckled pink beads. I bought four, thinking that I'd keep a couple for me, and then put a couple in some gifts, but I think I might go back and clear them out of these, because I'd like to make a necklace to match these earrings for me.

I love beaded things. I just have absolutly no patience to do it. I envy you (:

I was actually surprised at how quickly this stuff went together. Now, it will take longer to do it the right way on the next one, but it's definitely quicker than knitting, which was my last major hobby/gift undertaking!
