(no subject)

Snagged from a whole bunch of wombabes....

I know very little about some of the people on my friends' list. Some people I know relatively well. Some of you I hardly know at all. Perhaps you lurk, for whatever reason. But you friended me and I thank you.

But here's a thought: why not take this opportunity to tell me a little something about yourself. Any old thing at all. Just so the next time I see your name I can say: "Ah, there's so and so...she likes spinach."

I'd love it if every single person who friended me would do this. Yes, even you people who I know really well. Then post this in your own journal, if you feel like it.

teacher, mom of 3 and wife. Love chips and salsa and margaritas. also think that catsup is overrated and prefer just plain ol' fries. like to eat chocoloate cookie dough. Also like to work out, but never seem motivated enough to do it. I like to be kept busy, otherwise I'm a huge procrastinator.

Ron Siegel, one of the challenger chefs on Iron Chef, served the same dishes he made on the show at his restaurant a few months later. I went to the dinner. The theme ingredient was lobster, and I don't much like lobster, but he made it taste yummy.

i once dented the side of a taxi cab by kicking it with my trusty steel-toed docs, after the driver hit [personal profile] pixiecrinkle. she walked away, thankfully, and we ate sushi.

I am happily Married (yes, that "happily" exists) with a 5 year old son we both adore more than life itself (AKA: He is SPOILED).

I am a Vegetarian on now my 16th year, but I no longer splash paint on fur wearers...I just keep my feelings on the subject to myself unless asked to explain... My sone eats only Chicken...Wifey has a "celebratory" peiece of meat every few weeks though.

I collect toys and movies (both actually have a place in my budget...lets just say my mortgage/rent costs less than my toy and movie habit...er, hobby).

I miss Dairy BADLY! I miss having friends BADLY (I can actually count 3 I think... and 2 of them are a couple husband/wife)!

I actually like Ohio, but LOVE to visit other places that ARE NOT Ohio.

I have a pet rabbit named Snowball, who I "Rescued" from the evil clutches of Petland (his predecessor Fred had passed and we needed to fill the hole in our lives).

Peace Out!

I totally agree on the fries (hence the lj name), but I've got a bit of a ketchup addiction so I'm going to have to disagree on the ranch. Recipe whore, though, totally!!!

I haven't read Republic of Love yet. I'm planning on re-reading The Stone Diaries soon, and just finished Unless a couple of months ago.

I'm thinking of writing a note to Ms. magazine, because they did an end of the year piece honoring notable women who'd died during 2003, and she wasn't included.

That is just way cool -- I used to love lobster, but now suspect I have a sensitivity/allergy to shellfish, so can eat it no more. :-(

But see, I knew this about you.... :-)

I require sushi again soon.

I've been a vegetarian for 10 years now, and tried to go the dairy free route for a while, but found it far too difficult to eat well and avoid dairy. I recently re-added fish to my diet as well. I'm having huge conflicting issues regarding that though.

I don't know *why* I became vegetarian in the first place though. I did grow up on a hog farm, but it was far from a factory farm, so that wasn't really it. I know I made the decision based on health issues (heart disease runs through both sides of my family, and I have migraines that are sometimes triggered by animal products). The animal rights thing came later on to me, but more as an extension of learning more about yogic philosophy.

Wow. Didn't quite mean to drone on like that!

I do find it difficult to have to answer people's questions on what I eat. I find that to be a very personal decision, and to have to go through the whole "Do you eat this?" No. "What about this?" No. conversation gets a little old. I try to say, "I just don't consider that food," and leave it at that, but that tends to get even more questions.

Sometimes I want a t-shirt that says, "Just cause I made this decision for me, doesn't mean I'm judging you." Sigh.

[identity profile] docbee.livejournal.com 2003-12-15 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice shirt idea!!! Kinda long, but people would read it just because it is!

Short version for me would be: My life, my rules... Don't worry, I dont expect you to obey them!

trying again... i posted yet another thing that you already knew. i'm spaced today. how about... "i once rode an elephant at the zoo."

[identity profile] pixiecrinkle.livejournal.com 2003-12-15 01:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I daresay that's a bit catchier than mine. :-)

[identity profile] pixiecrinkle.livejournal.com 2003-12-15 01:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Are you sure it was an elephant, and not a pony?

Tee-hee. Pony.

if you do it, i'll do it! they can't ignore both of us.
