pixiecrinkle: (drama)

Grrrrrrr.....

So I decide to drive to Chipotle in the Brewery District for lunch. And as I'm ducking up an alley to find a parking space, I get behind this idiot who is trying to cross High Street, at an intersection that doesn't have a light. Or turn left, I'm not sure, as she didn't have her turn signal on. She had an out of state license plate and her back window was tinted black and almost completely covered with sports numbers and pictures in florescent paint.

She keeps hitting the gas, then the brake, hard, and inching out into the intersection, just far enough not to allow me through to turn right. Then she backs up. Apparently, she cannot see out the painted, tinted black window. Apparently, even with the windows down, she cannot hear me swearing at her at the top of my lungs, or hitting the horn with both hands, because she backs into me.

Then she just sits there. The people eating lunch at the patio beside us are aware of the situation, the guy behind me is aware of the situation, but she is blissful in her ignorance. So I get out of the car and inform her she has backed in to me. What follows is the worst "playing dumb" I've ever encountered.

Her: Really? I didn't feel anything.
Me: Yeah, there's blue paint all over my car.
Her snippy 14 year old daughter: Well, that's better than us getting into a head on collision. (I could have stopped here and pointed out that that would indicate her lack of confidence in her mother's driving and had no bearing on my involvement, but I did not.)
Her: Well....I'll give you my name and number.
Me: And your insurance info.

So she gave me her info, I got her license number, and I wrote down my phone number (which, because my adrenalin was coursing through my veins, I believe I may have miswritten.)

Then she closes with this...

Her: It rolls backward.

I just looked at her. I wish I'd been more with it, because then I would have replied with one of the following:

"You should have that looked at."
"Funny...and the backing lights come on too."
"Mine does too when I shift into reverse."

Grrrr...idiot. The good thing is, I don't think it really did anything more than rub the paint onto my bumper off hers. Though my bumper is definitely marred, I doubt I'll really get that fixed because it would be a lot of inconvenience for me. It just sucks, because that bumper is only a year old anyway!!!

Her: It rolls backward.

Way to take responsibility, lady. Y'know what's scary? She's passing those values on.

And, most likely, the (lack of) driving skills. :-)

Yes, it will be an inconvenience, but get it fixed. Make her premiums go up, at the very least. ;)

Did you get witnesses' contact info? police report? If not, insurance might be difficult.

No, I didn't think to ask the witnesses, and frankly, the police would have probably laughed at me for trying to report it. I kind of like the idea of her not knowing if I've turned it in or not. I'm evil in that way.

Stupid, stupid lady!! I wonder if she goes through her whole life just "pretending" that things aren't happening.

that sounds vaguely familiar to the c*nt who PARKED INTO my car a few years back. i'm sorry about your news. :-( what goes around, certainly goes around. she'll get hers. this city is full of fucking idiots...

The "parking into" was actually what I was thinking about as it was happening. Especially after she just sat there as I screamed all manner of obscenities.

Perfect icon. :-)
