Grrrrrr....
So about 8:45 last night my cell phone rings. It's the project manager for one of the projects I'm working on. I was parking my car, so I let it go to voicemail. When I checked it later, the message said there was a defect I needed to fix and could I please come in a little early to fix it. It mentioned that if I had a question to call back, anytime. Fine. I had no questions, didn't call back.
The phone rang again at 9:30, when
automat76 and I were eating dinner. Again about 5 minutes later. No message either time. I didn't answer because I figured if there were new developments, he'd leave a message.
At 11 pm, the phone rang again. This time, it was from a number I didn't recognize, but it was from the right area of town for him to now be calling from home.
At 7 am, my phone rang again. It was him. He called again while I was in the car, between 7:45 and 8:00. No messages again.
So I get to work, log in to start setting up my stuff (because my computer was rebuilt from the ground up yesterday, I have to re-join projects & stuff). And there's an email, sent at 10:45 pm last night from another member of the project team, saying my defect was merely a typo in the code and he's fixed it. I'm happy that this guy decided to send an email rather than call me. I'm not happy that the other guy, who did call didn't leave a freakin' message!!!
Not to mention the fact that as of 30 minutes ago, none of them were here yet, so I couldn't confirm any of that, or what they really wanted, or if they are waiting on me or what. And they both know, if I do need to fix this, one of them has to send me a file before I can even work on it.
This is my JOB, not my LIFE. I am NOT an indentured servant. I do NOT get on call pay. My own friends, with very few exceptions, don't call me after 11 pm. And I *never* answer my phone before work on principle.
The crappy part is, I really like the project manager, so I will totally cave if this comes up.
