Cool, the doctor's office called today with the date of my appointment with the endocrinologist -- November 22. It's not the same one my doc mentioned originally because of the insurance issue, but the one sounds good too -- she's an osteopath, which I think is awesome.

Today was an actual busy workday. Hurrah!

And now, I'm off to meet L. for dinner and then go off to the ballet. Yay. I love free tickets. Now I just need to use the free yoga passes I have. I've been slacking lately, but I'm finally getting my stuff together at the new place, so I can start making time for that. It's odd to have to think about taking all my stuff with me in the morning in order to go do something after work. I was so used to driving home and then walking places when I was in the old apartment.

I miss the Short North. I like my new place, and it is a good change (certainly easier on the wallet) but I can't believe how much more I'm driving now. It's like, since I have to be in the car anyway, I'm just pushing forward and driving out of my way, when before it would have taken a lot of planning and prodding to get me to do that.

I can't wait for the Halloween party tomorrow night. I tried on my makeup, wig and props last night, just to make sure I wouldn't make any huge mistakes, and it was fun. I still have glue on my ears today, but it looked fab. I'm excited!

I still need to figure out how I'm going to get into my corset. I may need to enlist help from a roommate or make someone stop by my place pre-party to help. Otherwise I might have my "stays loosened" when I arrive.

I totally need to lay off the Victorian novels.

Boo.

I love Halloween. Like a lot. Each year, I go more all out for my outfit than the previous year.

I was lying in bed last night trying to remember all of my outfits, and I came up with a partial list. The problem is, I know there were some years where I'd have multiple outfits--one for trick or treat, one for the Halloween parade at school (we had to dress up for band in themes a lot) and sometimes there are outfits I recall that might have been for a different event for school, so I'm not sure. But this is as close as I can come:

1978 - Tweety Bird
1979 - Clown
1980 - Witch
1981 - Cinderella
1982 - Batgirl
1983 - Miss Piggy
1984 - Sacajawea
1985 - Punk rocker (c'mon, *everyone* was a punk rocker that year)
1988 - can't remember, but I was Carrie for dress as your fave literary character day
1989 - Bobbi Soxer 50s girl
1992 - Spider
1994 - Morticia Adams (I wish I had a photo of this. I wore my friend J's vintage velvet gown and a long black wig and got hit on by the opposing team's band teacher. Ick.)
1995 - None?
1996 - Rapunzel
1997 - Vampire?
1998 - Witch?
1999 - Jackie O.
2002 - Flapper
2003 - Saloon Girl
2004 - Paris Hilton

What is the theme of all recent years? Is it wigs? Almost but not quite -- it's false eyelashes!

I have wanted to do a really cool vampire outfit for quite some time. So I've gone overboard with the props this year. And yesterday, I popped in to Spencer's gifts at lunch time and ended up leaving with a "goth makeup" foundation kit, and some latex ear tips.

Last night I did a makeup test, and took a photo for posterity, mostly so that when I'm rushing around to get ready for tomorrow night, I can remember what on earth I did to myself.

Quick! Drive a stake through her heart! )
