Thank you all for your help with my derby name a couple days back. Unfortunately, a lot of the ones suggested were already taken (we can't duplicate nationally, so it's hard). So here's a shortlist of names that are available that I'm thinking of.

I tried out one of these tonight at a meet and greet party for the newbie skaters, and about 50% of the people got it and the other 50% kind of went "huh?" So I'm putting it to the test on lj.

I can't remember -- where'd you move to? Because there are leagues cropping up all over in the last couple of months. I think there's one in Indy, but I'm not sure how close that is for you.

I came across a link today for a league that's for Indianapolis and Bloomington -- they are just getting started.

Oh, never fear -- I'll be chatting a lot about it here. The first bout isn't until April, and I'm not sure if I'll have practiced enough to skate yet (you have to have three months of practices in, and I'll be about a week short at that point). But from then on, there's one a month until September or so.

Yay! Derby!

Yeah, so I am SO. INSANELY. JEALOUS. OF. YOU. Because now I (for some reason I can't even decipher) REALLY, REALLY, REALLY want to join Roller Derby too. Hell, maybe I just want to rollerskate again. Its been like 3 years since the last time I had skates on. (But I am much better off than my brother...it has been about 15 years for him.)

Anyway, I am decidedly envious of you and am pondering kidnapping you and assuming your identity. Not only will I kidnap you (oh, and if anyone is reading this, I am kidding. Truly. If Pixiecrinkle gets kidnapped, it wasn't me.), but I will then force you to watch my child whilst I roller derby my evenings away.

But you can definitely...DEFINITELY...count on Masterbetty and me to join the ranks cheering you on.

It's been about 6 years since I've been on quads. I've skated on blades much more recently, but they are way different. So Sunday might be very humbling.

And hey, there is always next year. I am soooo impressed with the way they are running the business end of this league, so they will be around for a while. So maybe when said child is a little bit older, you can join up!

And I'm thrilled that I'll have people there I know cheering! Rock!
