So I’m sitting here at work today with nothing to do. Which is all because I was in here Saturday working so frantically. I realize they needed that stuff done then but still…I’m bored.

Yesterday BestFriend and I went out to her mom’s where we have our garden. This year it is more of a tomato farm. We had to rip out the cucumbers because they were drying out in the sun, but we got about a dozen off of the vine that were still good. We also got about 5 lbs of tomatoes (including yellow pears, and orange cherries—I’m making a tomato salad tonight!) and some yellow squash. Thankfully, the Iron Chef Family Dinner theme this month is squash, otherwise, I’m not sure what we’d do with all of these. Most of the tomatoes haven’t turned yet, so I don’t think we’ll be canning a lot for a few more weeks. I can’t wait to get the pressure cooker out though.

Since ICFD is on my birthday this time around, and about 5 other people in the group have bdays within a week or that, I was thinking of making a birthday cake, but I’m not sure what a squash cake would taste like. Maybe zucchini cake though – I still have one or two zucchinis left. Alternately, I could just make any old cake, and then ritually squash it to make it fit the theme. Not sure STS & I. will want me doing that in their house though.

The plumber showed up at 8:30 this morning. I was still in my PJs when I let him in, but managed to get out the door about 10 minutes later, after he’d started up with the power tools in the basement and set off the smoke detector continuously for about 5 minutes.

hooray

My laptop now plays mp3s. I fixed it. Yay!

I think one of the sexiest things ever is cuddling during a really hard thunderstorm. Which is what I was daydreaming about when I was dozing off this afternoon after work when it started to rain. I was just about asleep, when a huge bolt of lightening and crack of thunder made me sit straight up in bed.

And then the power went out.

So now, almost 6 hours later, after running out for dinner, commiserating with the neighbors and getting back here to dig out the battery powered CD player and a whole slew of candles, the power comes back on. So no excuse for being late in the morning I suppose.

Off to the bubble bath to test out the new water heater!
