Sep. 10th, 2003 01:01 amCake show was cool. TK got free tix 'cause he's a media type, so M,
automat76 and I went with him. Seems we actually could've had free tickets from several directions, but didn't know until very late. The crappy part was that even though we didn't leave until 8 or so to walk down to Promowest, we still had to sit through most of Cheap Trick's set. They were just not very good. Cake was fun. "Nonchalant" was the word of the evening. They played most of their recognizeable stuff, with the notable exception of "Rock-n'Roll Lifestyle" and "Italian Leather Sofa." I need to find the name of the percussion instrument the singer likes to bang on every so often. It's not an Efuche Cabasa, but it sounds sort of like one of those if it were something you hit rather than twisted.
The grass in the lawn seats was very very long. I attributed this to the Chemlawn banners that were hanging everywhere. I think I have some sort of evil fertilizing chemical on my skin now because I can't stop itching.
Now it is bedtime. I need my sleep, because I just realized that I start class tomorrow night. I've only known for 6 weeks that I start tomorrow, but have somehow managed to feel entirely unprepared. So it'll be a full day of work, and then class from 6 to 10. I don't feel ready for this yet.
