1. Get back muscle tone.

Will accomplish this through getting back into the yoga routine, and eradicating french fries from my diet.

2. Find a job situation that makes me happy.

This does not necessarily entail switching jobs, but maybe a tweaking of what I'm doing now.

3. Pick up good cleaning habits.

I've already started taking stuff up and downstairs as I'm going, and doing the dishes in a more timely manner. I may try instituting a schedule for the bigger things (mopping, vacuuming, scrubbing tub, etc.) that I'm content to never do, because I hate them.

4. Get better at nailing down migraine triggers.

Keeping better track of what I'm eating and how I'm feeling will help with this, and will hopefully stop me from wild speculation as to why my head feels like it's imploding.

5. Organize basement and other storage areas.

This will most likely be accomplished by ridding myself of large quantities of unnecessary stuff.

bell hooks
You are bell hooks (no capital letters)! You were
one of the first black wymyn to discuss in
public spaces the differences between being a
black womyn and being a black man or a white
womyn. You are the mother of intersectionality
and you couldn't care less about identity
politics. Thanks for making feminism accessible
and calling the white, middle class wymyn on
their bullshit!

Which Western feminist icon are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

This oddly apropos, because I was convinced for quite some time that amazon.com's recommendations engine was convinced I was a militant black separatist lesbian due to some books I'd purchased for projects in college. Most of the works of bell hooks were on that list. I do love her work. I once nearly swooned when I had a prof who mentioned that she'd taught with her for several years at Oberlin. Ahhhh...dear Krummy.

1. Name a celebrity who you'd like to be for a day.

Hmmm....you could use a lot of different angles on this. I think I'd pick someone who is incredibly creative/talented, just to get a feel for what that is like. Probably Margaret Atwood or maybe Zadie Smith -- she's more like the kind of stuff I'd like to write?

2. Name a celebrity who you'd least like to be for a day.

This is even harder. I think probably a sports star, because I have zero interest in that sort of thing.

3. What song immediately makes you change the radio station?

Anything by Celine Dion or Mariah Carey. On the station I normally listen to, I usually only change it if it's Dave Matthews, or one of those pseudo-punk/pop bands, like Blink 182.

4. What historical mystery would you like to go back in time and observe to reveal?

I like reading historical true crimeish stuff. So something like the identity of Jack the Ripper, or what happened to DB Cooper.

5. What's the most difficult thing you've done recently?

Going back to school, and subsequently passing my Java class. Why did I think that would be easy?

Because I'm bored -- another post!

So last night [livejournal.com profile] automat76 and I were discussing things we have strong distaste for, and I brought up the idea of starting a list of horrific song lyrics.

My initial ideas of things to include were:

-"a mole, digging in a hole, digging in my soul" from U2's "Elevation"
-"your body is a wonderland" by john mayer (this song makes me gag, in a way it doesn't make most people, because I find it exceptionally sappy & trite)

automat brought up:
-The use of the word "moot" in an 80s song we heard recently (the name is escaping me -- what was that?)
-"All I wanna do is make love to you" by Heart

I have since decided to add:
-"Teenagers, Kick our Butts" by Dar Williams (and I *love* Dar Williams, but this was not a good song)

So else wants to play curator? Nominate the sappy, overly contrived, or just the bad stretches to make the rhyme....
