The list of accomplishments:

1. Completed the fuzzy feet slippers for mom, which will be delivered tomorrow (pictures soon)

2. about 3 false starts on the cotton yarn I've been trying to turn into a sweater for 2 years now. That makes a total of 8 false starts on that sweater. I have given up "designing" and will now try to find a pattern specifically for that yarn (Rowan All-Season Cotton).

3. Made myself a cell phone pocket with the leftover yarn from mom's slippers (Lamb's Pride Bulky). The pattern was far too generic and does not fit my phone well, so this will probably get unraveled, but now I have an idea of how to start engineering these. I used the pattern in the Hollywood Knits book.

4. Started on the afghan of doom for my cousin and his fiancee. It's Wool Ease Chunky, which is a delightful looking and feeling yarn, but not so great smelling. I got about 20 rows done on the first motif (this is a sampler afghan) and couldn't figure out why I kept smelling nail polish remover. I was looking all over for an open bottle, then I finally determined that the smell was coming from the yarn. This puppy's getting washed before it gets wrapped up as a wedding gift. I hope it's just the one color that smells. Otherwise this is not going to be a fun project. There's 2 balls of that color, but 22 balls total.

Bedtime. Hurrah.

Went to Springfield today to meet all of my family, sans my sister, for mom and Aunt Carole's birthday. We went to a Chinese buffet, which shocked me. It was a treasure trove of seafood. I watched my mother eat frog legs and my father eat a crawfish. They had raw oysters, but I restrained myself by attacking the sushi display. Mom loved her fuzzy feet (I will still post pictures) though she will probably need to shrink them a little bit further.

Ended up going to this Crafts 2000 store that mom is obsessed with. It's a former Furrow lumber store all full of craft supplies, all at discount prices. I got a huge bag of yarn. They had lots of specialty stuff that I haven't seen in stock at a lot of other stores. And they had hemp/cotton and hemp/wool blends. I bought a couple things of hemp-cotton to make grocery shopping bags out of.

I have tracked my "holiday migraines" down to one of the following causes:

1. Driving (though that seems unlikely, because I don't get them on other long drives)
2. The perfume of either my mom or my grandma, or my uncle's cologne.
3. Something in my grandparents house.

I don't know whether 2 or 3 is more probable, because whenever we left, we all left together, so it wasnt' a very controlled experiment. Either way, I ended up doing an Imitrex at Fazoli's after I left there. I had to grab dinner because my cholesterol test is in the morning and I couldn't eat after 8, and I knew I'd have a hard time driving in the dark with a headache, so I took the Imitrex even though I'm not supposed to drive while on it. Home safe and sound though. I hope the egg drop soup I ate at lunch doesn't make my cholesterol spike!

Back to the afghan...I figure smelly yarn can't make the headache worse at this point.
