What a weekend.

It seems many of my one liners didn't make it through to lj for whatever reason, so I shall try to reconstruct the weekend from the text messages in my phone, the spotty photographic record, and my memory.

This is likely to be long. I just lost half of what I wrote because lj hates me, so I'm posting this in sections.

Friday:

I took Friday off work, but stayed in bed until after noon. The neighborhood wasn't too bustling, so I slothed around the house for a while, watched Ellen, then went to ComFest about 4:00. On my first trip around the park, I saw no one I knew. Within the following hour, however, I saw nearly everyone I knew. Had to relearn the wisdom I've gained in years past, that it's better to get beer from guys than girls at the beer tents, because guys will give you a full mug for one token, while girls tend to be sticklers for the rule.

Eventually, after a night of wandering around with various people, we all went back to [livejournal.com profile] automat76's house, and she, three of the J's and I stayed up until 4 am talking about hair metal bands. At some point I stumbled home and crashed.

Saturday:

Woke up for the pride parade Saturday. Met up with [livejournal.com profile] automat76 and [livejournal.com profile] ryan_rita. The parade itself was rather subdued in comparison to years past. The cool weather meant very few shirtless women. There was also a lack of boys in panties, which began last year. Still, there is no better people watching than the convergence of pride and comfest. I did get several photos for the tongue in cheek "Field Guide to Lesbian Haircuts" that [livejournal.com profile] automat76 proposed several years ago.

And, I was glad to see that that thing that scared the crap out of me last Thursday was actually a float in the parade. I had the URL wrong -- it's pantsonfire.net

We went to Betty's then for a couple bloody marys, and Bitch, of Bitch & Animal was sitting in the window, where she'd watched the parade. We were going to buy her lunch but missed our window. Back home for a few hours of relaxing, then back to fest. Got Salty Carmel ice cream and Dark Cocoa Gelato from Jeni's, which had a little cart there.

Stuck around at the gazebo stage for a while knitting and being amazed at the sheer volume of the crowd. Unbelievable numbers of people -- the weather was stellar, and the festival was laid out better than ever before, so the crowd wasn't surly like it can be normally. Was knitting for a while, and had a guy who was handing out fliers look at me like I was an idiot when I refused to take one, saying "I'm sorry, my hands are full." (That should have been apparent.) So he left it beside me. It was a flier for a Christina Aguilara concert in Pittsburgh, with fire eaters and acrobats. Um, yeah.

Saw Katie Reider that evening, and then wandered about again. Ran into one of my yoga teachers and felt super guilty for not having been to class in quite some time. I ended up going home early and ran into B & J, who very breathlessly told me they'd come from Mac's where they'd had dinner with Jello Biafra (who had performed at comFest)

Sunday:

I drove to mom and dad's, feeling like crap, for my sister's birthday lunch. She and her boyfriend had just returned from Myrtle Beach, where they got engaged! So I am now the only person of that generation in my family who is not betrothed. Sigh. Let the hounding begin. I am happy for her though, and he seems like a nice guy, though he does not always seem to get my mother and I.

Afterward, drove back to Columbus, and went back to Comfest again, and met up with some people. Again back to [livejournal.com profile] automat76's place, where B & I stayed up talking until about 4 am. On the way home, I found a snow white cat with a tag for the house it was outside of. Its name was "Blow" which I found very funny. I tried to get it to go home to no avail. It may have been a part time outside cat though.

Monday:
Slept in, found my car, went to dentist, knitted 1.5 afghan squares, ate fat burrito at Chipotle, had difficulty going to bed at a normal time.
