Weird dream

This was one of those dreams that, once you've woken up, still seems vividly real, so you're left with the emotional fallout, even though it didn't really happen.

So, I was in some sort of band. It must have been like Polyphonic Spree, because it seemed there were roughly 25 other people in the band. And my sister had asked the band to play at her wedding. We were sort of atmospheric pop electronica or something.

So, we were supposed to meet at this house, and then all drive up to the ceremony location (which was apparently in Newark?) for the ceremony at 4 pm.

Somehow, we didn't end up with even half the band members in the house by 8pm. I had wanted to take a taxi out to the ceremony, but no one would let me, saying they'd just delay the ceremony for us anyway. (I should add that none of these people were people I know in real life, and even in the dream, I didn't know them well, so I'm not sure why I was listening to them.)

So at 8:30, I called my mom. The phone picked up, but she wasn't on it, and I thought I heard her say they'd postponed the wedding to the following day. I was quite relieved, but I called her right back, and found out that they in fact hadn't, and my sister was royally upset with me (with good cause) and I'd missed everything. Wedding, reception, everything.

I kept trying to go back to sleep and have a happier dream before getting up, but all that succeeded in doing was making me late for work. Weird.

Got two rows of the afghan stitched together, and embroidery done on some of the pieces, which I had forgotten about. I hate French knots with a passion, and seem to have created my own way to do them, rather than following the sketchy instructions. So tonight, I get to start weaving in ends and blocking on the remaining three rows.

In addition, I have drafted a scathing letter to Lion Brand about the quantity of yarn the pattern told me to buy. I have enough yarn left over to knit 75% of the afghan again. And this isn't yarn I just like to have laying around (Wool-ease chunky). I do have a couple of uses in mind for some of it, but still, they told me to buy two balls of a color that's only used for a little embroidery!

Also got my slipper socks felted. They are a little snug for my large feet, but I've been stretching them. I'll wear them around tonight over socks and see if I can't stretch them out a bit more.

Pictures later on, when I'm home.

I need to finish the Vogue knitting tank top I'm working on. Right now, it's looking like I could gain 70 pounds or so before it would fit correctly, but I'm determined to get the back finished before I make that judgment for certain, so I can measure it properly. It's going to be a bitch to frog, because it's double stranded with really tangly yarn. I don't know why it is my gauge can be spot on, but yet I can't seem to make garments that approach fitting correctly.

I need to finish that though, because I'm not allowed to start Rosedale United until I get it done, and I am so wanting to work with the Kureyon right now!!!

I also have a couple of birthday gifts to do, which will hopefully use up some of my eyelash yarns -- I have tons right now. I'm thinking Lamb's Pride or Wool Ease coasters with Fun Fur trim. That could be fun in the right colors.

Oh yeah. I should finish that tote bag from the yarn in my user icon too. That's only been on the needles for a year or so. It's my "out and about" project though because it's straight stockinette and easy to carry along in my purse. So someday, it will actually be the purse itself. :-)

So, the US presidential election is going to have international observers.

Here's what I don't get: it seems from the article that there was some oppostion to this. In addition, the very-unscientific CNN poll off that page asking whether there should be int'l observers showed a 50-50 split when I looked at it.

This seems to me to be one of those "if you have nothing to hide, you won't mind" kind of situations. Which to me, screams "PR nightmare" for any elected official opposing it.

Am I missing something here because of my own bias? Is there some other reason we wouldn't want impartial observers? Are they assuming the observers aren't impartial? I'll admit some naivete when it comes to how the UN fits in to politics, so maybe there is something that makes this readily clear.

Situation: Comedy

Oooh. I want to enter this. I like the reality shows that actually require some talent or ingenuity to win.

Of course, now that means I need to rustle up some talent and ingenuity. Not to mention a sitcom idea. :-)
