pixiecrinkle: (knitting)
So I finally uploaded my photos from my "sweatshop knitting weekend."

Here is my progress so far on my first sock. )

The Bobbi Bear prototype. )
I made him on smaller needles, with worsted weight, but I'm not happy with how he looks when he's stuffed. You can see the stuffing more in the photo than you can in real life, but I still wouldn't feel comfortable giving it to a child. So I think I might try it at actual size in a chunkier yarn.

And the beginning of a basketweave yoga bag, but in too thick yarn, so this might end up as a hat. )

Can't post the photos of the other yet, because I'm submitting it to Knitty. It's a secret!
pixiecrinkle: (nanowrimo)
I'm doing nanawrimo this year. I was in school last year, so couldn't do it, but this year, I think I'm up to it.

I have some characters, and will start trying to sketch out how they know each other. I'm not sure about that. Plot at this point, is non-existant.

This is going to be a crappy novel to end all crappy novels. :-)

Vioxx is being pulled from the market.

Crap. No, I've not been taking it a whole lot lately, but it's been the only thing that takes the edge off my wrist pain when that's flaring up, especially without giving me a lot of nasty side effects.

Poo.

Got this in my Drexel email this morning. Unfortunately, I probably can't go, since I already am taking Monday off to drive back from the PJ Harvey show, and this is in the middle of the day, but maybe someone has Thursday off??

AL FRANKEN LIVE AT THE ARENA GRAND THEATRE!
After debunking right-wing propaganda in his bestselling books "Lies,
and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them" and "Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Idiot,"
Al Franken is taking the fight to America's airwaves--and he's doing it
drug-free. With his co-host, veteran radio personality Katherine
Lanpher, Franken will deliver three hours a day of fearlessly irreverent
commentary, comedy, and interviews. Franken and Lanpher have a mean streak a smile
wide. The Al Franken Show will energize fans, infuriate liars, and
deliver the truth-in what Al Franken likes to call the Zero Spin Zone.

Now you can experience Al Franken live as AM 1230 Progressive Talk
brings his show to Columbus on Thursday, October 7th at the Arena Grand
Theatre! Doors will open at 11:00 a.m. for his nationally broadcasted show from
12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Stick around afterwards for a book signing and
complimentary viewing of Fahrenheit 9/11 on the big screen!

Tickets are free at the door and available on a first-come first-served
basis. Seating is limited. For more information contact the Drexel
Theatres Group business office at (614) 222-0947.

Now a friend of the talkative loud neighbor is antagonizing the bad dog neighbor with his car alarm. I am amused, but would be more so if it weren't so loud.
