This shouldn't be this difficult.
Jul. 5th, 2005 10:30 amMy cell phone decided this weekend that they number keypad should no longer work. Now, it's been failing slowly for a while, but I thought I could make do a bit longer, because I have a full qwerty keyboard in this phone (Nokia 6800) in addition to the keypad. But I got to thinking last night, and it would be really difficult to dial anything involving 911 o a # or * right now, so I should probably replace it. Plus, I can actually see what the problem is mechanically, so it's not going to fix itself anymore.
So why can't I find an appropriate phone???
My first impulse was to go with the Nokia 6820, but it's not gotten great reviews, and it's gotten even worse reviews from people who've previously owned a 6800. Grrr....
This is what I would like to have:
-Nokia phone (I am used to the UI, and it's intuitive)
-works with cingular (although I'm not under contract, so for the perfect phone, I might be willing to hop carriers)
-full qwerty keyboard (not that weird hybrid thing some of the lower priced blackberries have, and not the LG phones, because even the people at the cingular store told me they don't have good reception)
-not outrageously expensive
-ability to save multiple numbers per contact
-speakerphone/loudspeaker
What would be nice, but that I don't necessarily need:
-camera
-Lifeblog compatible (though right now it seems most of these phones aren't available in the US)
Things I absolutely don't care about:
-fancy covers
-fancy ring tones
-flip phones -- I actually don't like them.
I need to find out how possible it is to buy another phone and just change the sim card for use with Cingular. Then I could maybe get one of these European or Middle Eastern text focused phones, and use it here. I think. I need to do some research on that.
