I think that clothing is great the week of the holiday, even if I won't wear it. Also, it's fine for holiday parties and for teachers to wear if it's cold and snowy and already December. ;)
I'm just as likely to wear reindeer socks in august as in december. And my Halloween love knows no calendar.
For winter holiday jewelry (reindeer pins on coats, candle tie-tacks), I think that can be worn whenever one is in the mood. My oldoldold-had-since-I-was-a-litte-kid reindeer pins go on my coat when I find them in December and stay there until the snow leaves the mountains. They're unobtrusive and pretty.
Reindeer antler headbands are just as appropriate in July as lobster deelieboppers; ie, I don't care how inappropriate--there's never an appropriate time, so they're wacky and zany and I wouldn't be the same without them.
It's sort of like my pointy hat. It's velvet and warm, so it's a cold-weather-but-not-wet wardrobe item. It's cold and wet today, so no pointy hat. If it's cold and dry next week, it might come out.
