Number of times I was almost hit by a taxicab at lunch: 1
Number of times I was almost hit by a full-size pickup truck at lunch: 1
Number of times I have previously been hit by a taxicab in my life: 1
Number of times I was whistled at on the street at lunch: 1
Number of simple math errors found in my code this morning: 5
Number of unexplained bruises on my arms: 5
Number of unexplained bruises on my legs: 2
Hours I have spent trying to calibrate the wrong printer: 2
Number of people who have yet noticed my new haircolor, without being told first: 2

And now, I shall return to printer calibration, which is described in the manual in oh-so-technical terms as follows:

a Examine the color adjust page from a distance of 3 ft (approximately
1 m).
b Find the circle of each color that most closely matches the background color. It might be necessary to squint slightly to match the colors.
c Record the number in the circle.

The problem with this is that when standing at a distance of 3 ft and “squinting slightly” I cannot see the numbers in the circles. Which means we end up with a whole group of programmers standing around, 3 ft from each other, squinting (ever, so slightly), trying to read the numbers and barking out things like “Smooth magenta +6” at me. My job is weird some days.
