home again...
Nov. 22nd, 2003 07:41 pmDrove down to mom and dad's last night with my sister, so we could get up this morning and get down to Dayton for my cousin's graduation. The grad itself was fairly short, and we went back to S (cousin) & his fiance A's apartment afterwards. It was odd from there. People were actually watching the OSU game, which is not at all normal for my family, but with the extended friends of family, and S & A's friends there it was on, which created a loud, giant behemoth in the middle of the room that made it difficult to converse or hear anyone else. We didn't stay terribly long.
Drove past the house I grew up in on the way home. It was odd. Mom and Dad moved out of there after 20 some years just last year. My grandfather owns the house/farm and always refused to fix it up when we lived there. Instead, he waited for mom and dad to move, then gave the house to my dad's brother's youngest hellion son, and gave him $70,000 to fix it up. We think it's going to take a lot more than that -- the place was a dump. Apparently several contractors have already refused to work on it, seeing it for the money pit it is. They have put siding on though, and pulled out some trees so it looks just very very odd.
I got a call from work while I was at mom and dad's. Had to walk down the street to get enough cell reception to hear the message, and when I called back in, it turns out they need me to come in tomorrow. They swear it's a fix that will just take a couple of minutes. I hope so. I don't know how I will get this program finished if I'm there very long.
I am now going downstairs to give myself a crash course in interfaces and subclasses, then will start coding this puppy. I really don't want to get a horrid grade in this class.
