Another overheard.
Apr. 5th, 2004 03:26 pmThis time from Saturday night, at Martini. There was a group of high school kids in prom-like garb (though it seems awfully early for prom.) One of the girls was wearing a colorblocked dress, very 80s throwback, in white, black and hot pink. I would have adored this dress at her age, and it was perfect on her. I was about to compliment her on it when her friend returned and said the following (in a voice of total disgust):
"Like Oh my God, this woman just talked to me, and she said she was, like, 30. But I think she was more like FORTY-THREEE! Eeew."
At this point, I was laughing way to hard to tell the first girl that she had a cool dress. I was frightened that my mention of it being retro, or that it reminded me of when I had been in high school might cause them to call me something nasty, like, OMG--thirty-five!!!
