[Poll #293489]

I've been meaning to ask this question for quite some time. I personally never knew anyone used these until I started at my current job. I have always been under the impression that if there is something that is on the toilet seat that is going to infect you through your skin, a little piece of tissue paper isn't exactly going to protect you. But apparently there are others who disagree with this. Thoughts?

I use them but only when I'm visiting the states bc you don't see them very often her in Canada...

That's because Canadians aren't as prudish. :-)

Yeah, tissue paper is not a sterile barrier. If a toilet seat is too nasty for me to use, I hover, I hold it, or I go dig a hole in the woods.

i always wipe down the seat, anyhow, but if i have eczema or sores on my thighs (and with my skin, i often do), i'll use the paper seat covers just to protect my broken skin even more.

See, with broken skin, that makes sense to me. Otherwise, I'm really quite clueless on this!

The other women I work with say they won't even SIT on our toilet seat at work; they "hover."

Call me crazy, but I am not in the mood to do Pilates-like hovering poses when I need to use the restroom; I just want to sit and pee. If anything, their "hovering" makes them MORE likely to pee on the seat than anything else, imo.
