So I set my sewing machine up last week, on the table that was so conveniently sitting by the dumpster beside my front door (oh, the joy of living on an alley -- no need to travel for dumpster diving). It's a former typewriter table from OSU. It's got two leaves, and locking legs and wheels, so it's much cooler than anything I could have purchased, and, well, it was free.

Okay, the whole point of that was to post a photo I took of it, but apparently I've not uploaded that yet. I'll do that later.

Anyway, I got inspired by this post and thought I'd make myself a needle case. So this is a big reminder to myself to go work on that tonight. I also saw cool ones somewhere else online this weekend that were stiff and opened like a book instead of rolling, but they retailed for upwards of $55.00, so maybe I'll try to make one of those.

Hopefully, I will be able to restrain myself from visiting a fabric store to do this, and just use what I have stashed away. Considering I have a lot of black bridal satin (from my high school senior prom dress) and brown taffeta (from a ball gown skirt for New Year's a few years ago) I should be good to go in that department. I also have a lot of 1970s double knit, but I'm not sure how well that would work. Maybe if I back it with cardboard inside? Why, oh why did I have to take out the recycling this weekend?

If I get all the job app stuff done tonight that I want to, I will reward myself by letting myself start on this. :-)

I think it came from my mom's collection when they moved. A friend of our family's gave her a whole bunch of fabric after his wife died in the mid 80s, so it's been languishing for a while.
