Rufus Wainwright has a beautiful voice. And a great stage presence (especially now that he's off the drugs.) Not to mention stellar fashion sense. His pants were amazing, and, he admitted, made for women :-) He played "Travelling" as the first encore which was great, especially since the whole band came out in witch's hats and dracula capes. And the way they did "My Phone's on Vibrate For You" made me realize that even though the lyrics are absolutely silly, there is some redeeming quality to that song. There were some really odd dissonant harmonies going on with him and the backup vocalists during that song that were downright amazing.

That's the best concert review I have the energy to muster right now. We had second row seats, which were marred only by the absolutely idiotic trio sitting in front of us who talked (loudly) and laughed (like a horse whinnying) through the entire show. To the point where the band members were glaring at them.

I'm wearing the tiara in that photo for a reason. Thus follows a confidential message for those three who sat in front of us. Warning. Rant ahead. Really bitchy rant. )

Dizzy

For some reason, I've been dizzy since I got here this morning. While this is an improvement over head pain, I don't like it.

The blood pressure takers are here today so I'm going to go down and grab lunch and do that. I have pretty rock solid good blood pressure, but who knows.

This one was a blend of post-Rufus concert glow and the CD that started playing in my alarm this morning. I was at PromoWest to see PJ Harvey (if she tours this year and plays there....wow.). We had the same seats as last night at Rufus Wainwright, and the stage was pretty much set up the same way. It was just her, in this little black dress/jumper thing, and one guitarist. There were lots of red lights everywhere.

The show ended, and [livejournal.com profile] automat76 and I were trying to figure out if she'd do an encore, and I said, "She never does encores." Then the lights came up.

At this point, I woke up. The CD had just ended.

The weird part is, I really really feel like I saw PJ Harvey do a great show. And I've never seen her in real life. It was so very real.

I'm kinda hoping this is one of those prophetic dreams.

Dizziness has gone away. Strangely, my blood pressure was slightly lower than normal for me. But I felt better after eating, so it may have been my blood sugar going nuts. I "cheated" last night in honor of [livejournal.com profile] automat76's bon voyage and had a big beer during the show, and some cake after dinner. I probably had a bit of a spike and drop.
