So travel, migraines, and general sloth have led to me making no updates this weekend. Hmmph.

Thanksgiving was fairly normal. A bigger group than usual because my uncle brought his on-again girlfriend, and my cousin and his wife brought her grandmother (who is the coolest grandmother-person on the planet I think), and my sister brought her fiance. We had 14. Given the tininess of my extended family, that's huge.

There was some general weirdness, mostly because my uncle's girlfriend kept following me around to eventually try to do some sort of energy healing on my hand. I'm fine with that, just not when I'm with my entire extended family, and especially not when I'm in the middle of another conversation. I've already been labeled the family flake I think. My aunt (mom's twin sister) seems to be making up for her now empty nest by shopping on QVC. Luckily, she let me know she'd purchased her guitar on TV before I started making fun of that ridiculous Esteban informercial. Weird. This is the same woman who actually owns and uses a flowbee (the suck-cut from Wayne's World). I think she'll buy anything if it's on TV.

The migraine from Wednesday ended up returning Thursday night, so I ended up staying at mom and dad's since I took my drugs. Their apartment has basically no windows, so I slept like the dead. Came back on Friday, and ended up spending the day floating from Betty's to the Tavern to bowling to Havana, etc. with [livejournal.com profile] automat76 and L. Public Service Announcement: Don't bowl with a broken hand, even if it's mostly healed. It will hurt, and you are likely to bowl a 50. Which I did.

The rest of the weekend was spent lazing about pretty much. I did get another gift scarf finished and another gift started. And a sleeve for my Rosedale II is complete. I need to do some swatches tonight since I'm teaching on Thursday. Or maybe I'll just take various gifts to show different techniques!

Did you just ever have absolute lust for an item? And you know it's wrong to feel as if you need something so superfluous, but the fact that the universe seems to be conspiring against you in your quest for it just makes the challenge all that more important to you?

I almost bought this purse about 2 months ago, but bought a more practical one instead. A few days later, I saw someone carrying the green version at the Old Mohawk and decided I could indeed find a use for it. So I went back to get it, and they didn't have it anymore. I'm thinking there was truly only one in Columbus, and that girl had it.

I have now been outbid twice on ebay, once in each color. (I prefer the green, but could deal with the pink.)

And then I found the site linked above, and the price is marked 75% off, but it's not available. And every single other site I've found via google is linked to that page.

Does someone know the super-secret handbag source? Because I'm beginning to think it's just not going to happen for me!

I've been toying with the idea of an online master's degree in Human Factors Engineering from Wright State for a while now. But I seem to have difficulty getting them to send me information, so it's been on the back burner. I need to know specifically about whether or not I need to catch up on any prerequisites to get in to the program, seeing as how I have a degree in creative writing and film and want to pursue an M.S. in Engineering.

I just realized that if I do this, for admission this fall, I need to be taking the GRE pretty soon. Ack! I took it in 1998, but I'm certain those scores are no longer valid.

I am a big weirdo, in that I like standardized tests, and do well on them, but I'm not looking forward to having to brush up on calculus and analogies and such. Not to mention that the test may be very very different now. Guess I need to get in gear and start looking stuff up.

danger!

Overstock.com has both birkenstocks & doc martens on sale right now.

For a shoe fiend like me, this is a lot of temptation!
