Nov. 3rd, 2004 08:00 pmI think I just had a nano breakthough. I realized that what I had been writing seemed very stale, and just like play directions.
Then I remembered that I wanted to use a "chatty-cathy" narrator. The narrator sounds like s/he is talking with you over brunch. The great thing with this is that you're not sure it's not the main character, and you also trust her instantly.
The other great things: it makes the story much more interesting, and makes my word count bulk up a bit. I've got 3,094 words now, which isn't half bad given that no writing at all took place last night. I'm a little behind, but not enough to worry about yet. Maybe I'll pull this off after all.
