Nov. 8th, 2004 09:44 amI seriously messed up my internal clock this weekend.
Friday was Girls' Night, which was much more sedate than usual. About half a dozen of us at Buca, which took too long, so we missed Alfie. Then on to Ravari room, which is one of those places I will love after the smoking ban goes into effect, but at the moment is too smoky for me to enjoy. We played pinball, on a machine that seemed to have some mental issues, as it kept shooting the ball before the next player would appear.
I still have my bar scar from there. It refuses to go away. I think they used tattoo ink.
Went to bed at a decent hour that night, but had to get up early Saturday to clean up my house a bit before J. arrived in the afternoon. Got grandma's sweater vest started. I am in love with the yarn (Jo Sharp DK). J. came and we worked on her website concepts a bit, scanned in some photos, then took off for a short gallery hop jaunt and dinner. Elements kept the pitafetaziki from the former occupant of the space (J&G)! This makes me exceedingly happy.
Then on to Tears for Fears. I enjoyed the show far more than I expected. We were right up front, and they were very into interacting with the audience. It was really a good show. I think in my head, I'd derided them as just 80s throwaway pop (not true) and then was projecting the experience I'd had when we saw Cheap Trick open for Cake last summer (they were *horrible*). So that was a nice surprise.
I could barely walk after we trekked to and fro Promowest and stood there for about 3 hours, because I was stupid and wore boots I'd not yet work this season.
automat76 and
spandita called after J left for a nightcap and I made them pick me up because my feet were screaming even though we were only going to Havana. Then after I got home, I proceeded to watch television until something like 3 am. At some point, I fell asleep, and awoke to a really good show, but I have no idea what it was. It was like a really high quality SNL, but it had Billy Crystal, George Carlin, Harry Shearer, Christopher Guest, Martin Short, Jim Belushi, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and others. It may have been from the 80s, as one of the skits was about Ghostbusters, but most of the other stuff was timeless.
Okay, I just looked this up on imdb, and it looks like it really was SNL. I had no idea half those people were ever on it, and had never seen any of those skits.
So anyway, I ended up not going to bed until nearly 4 am, so I didn't wake up until after noon. Bad idea. I had a really strange nagging idea of a headache going on, but it never really materialized. I did get a lot done in the afternoon, including:
-finishing up the yoga bag that turned into a strangely shaped hat, which is a prototype for another design idea I have
-getting the ribbing on the back of grandma's sweater done, along with another two inches or so of the body.
-starting mom's silk garden scarf
-starting the world's most hideous yet strangely appealing eyelash scarf, (recipient to be determined)
Then I tried to go to bed around 1. Yeah, that worked really well. I must have finally fallen asleep about 3:30. Then around 5 I woke up with a killer migraine. I had to shoot the Imitrex up my nose in the middle of the night, which I hate doing, but it did get me back to sleep. So I'm now running on hardly any sleep, and I had the side effect of waking up with sticky nostril. Fun.
So now, I'm trying desperately to stay awake. I got no nano writing done this weekend, but since I have a lot of knitting projects to get done this month (there is the possibility of doing a craft show here at work in December) my priorities have shifted. I think I'll keep working on it, but my goal may be something more like 20,000 than 50,000. Why can the month be March or something rather than November??
Either way, I think tonight will be an early to bed night. Hopefully.
