I'm attempting to finish the afghan tonight. I estimate I have about 2 hours of knitting left, and a half an hour or so of seaming. I can't leave too much for tomorrow, but it would be nice to get some sleep too, especially since I took a sick day today.

I have until 7 pm tomorrow to drop this thing off at the state fair. Thsi better be worth it. Right now I'm jittery from overcaffeination, and my wrists are swelling something awful.

Sheesh.

Having seen the afghan, I think someone would have had to have knit a full size copy of themselves from yarn they made themselves from their own hair before they stood a chance in beating you. That thing is amazing! Good luck! Are you going knitting tonight or tomorrow? Also, you had a bridesmaid dress altered, right? Where did you go and did you like their work? Mine just came in and even if I wear heels it's a little too long.

Hee. I've had about 3 hours sleep, and that just made me giggle uncontrollably. That said, there's a lot of the finishing work that I'm not thrilled with, and one square in particular stands out to my eyes as looking like total crap, so I can see someone beating me with a simpler design that executed more perfectly. It's hard to judge my own work though, so who knows.

Re: the bridesmaid's dress, I went to Campus Tailoring, which is beside Oldfield's on High Street north of Lane Ave because she came highly recommended. The woman did incredible work, but it was more expensive than I expected. (It was my own fault for not asking up front for the cost though) I paid $85.00 for her to hem the dress (the hem was atrocious when I got it, so she had to even it out, and it was two layers of fabric) and to take in the bust. You can't even tell she did the top--she did that good a job of reconstructing it. Maybe that's a reasonable price for alterations, I don't know. I don't feel too bad for paying it since her work was worth it, but since I'm not wild about the dress in the first place, it's kind of grating to shell out that kind of money (a whole sweater's worth of decently expensive yarn!)
