Have you all seen Wholesomewear?

Now, I'm not going to argue with them that there is a need for modest swimwear, but I'm thinking this might be taking it a tad bit too far. Because really? If you are wearing one of these at the beach, you're going to be getting a lot of looks for lack of skin showing, just as someone with too much showing would.

And I'm not sure how I'd feel about going in the ocean with too much excess fabric floating around my legs. Hmmm...

Must be for those religions where the women always have to wear dresses and be totally covered up....

I was about to say the same thing. I was going to say it's for Orthodox Jewish women, but they won't swin in the same pool as men even when they're super covered.

You know that family who's in the news for having 17 kids in Arkansas, and all their names start with J?

I watched a documentary about them, and the mom specifically mentioned that they try to wear clothes that draw attention to their face (she called it their "countenance.") All the girls wore sort of sailor-blouses and all the boys wore normal polo-type shirts. They seem like they would be into the modest swimwear trend too.

I agree, those look a little cumbersome. I can understand wanting to wear swimwear that's not revealing, but I think it's going to be difficult to swim in anything that doesn't basically cling to your body. It's a tradeoff, I guess.

People talk trash about that family all the time, about her having a litter of kids and whatnot, right? I think I saw the documentary you're talking about and they seem like the awesomest people ever, like if there is anyone who should have a billionty kids it's them. Those kids seem like the awesomest people who ever awesomed. Totally loving and well adjusted. I wish I was one of them. They were asking one of the teenage boys about girls and he was talking about how he was excited to get married and have a loving partnership with a girl and have a family too and I was all like "Awwww!" I had a fucked up adolescence so I'm envious of wholesome people. :-)

Yeah, it's not really for me to ride on anyone because they want to wear something modest but these just look completely impractical. Can you imagine the long car ride back from the beach on a 95 degree day in one of those things?

Jeez, now I want to see the men's side. Do they make three piece men's swimming suits?

Hmmmm. I guess that most of the time that I'm in the water, I'm wearing a wetsuit of some form or other because it's either cold or I'm doing scuba. And wetsuits are very flattering and eye-catching in the same sort of way as the first two designs they're marketing here. I'll go so far as to say that they're sexy, except that it's more of a Mia Hamm sexy than a Britney Spears sexy, if you know what I mean.

I agree that excess fabric floating around can be an annoyance (to say nothing of a potential hinderance), but it sort of looks like the undergarment is covering anywhere that the overdress would be flapping so you wouldn't notice it.

Just wait until some of that fabric gets caught on something under the water and one of those wholesome kids drowns.

*shakes head* People like that just frustrate the hell out of me.

yeah, i seem to remember getting in trouble at the pool when i was little for wearing a shirt in the water, because it could get caught on something.
