So this song I've never heard before comes on the radio on the way to work this morning. And at first I think, "Wow, new Soul Coughing record?" But after a while, I realize that it doesn't even sound like them. And I think, "Hmmmm...maybe Peter Gabriel released another single? But it doesn't really sound all that good." And then, when the song ends, they say that it's Freaking Dave Mathews!!! Ick!!!! My ears, my ears!!!

I'm sure my sister is all happy though. :-)

Is it that really sad one, something about a gravedigger?

I love Dave Mathews, but that's a major change in sound for him. I liked it, but he must have had a really bad week or something when he wrote that.

Yep, that's it. It's not terrible, though I think the chorus is a bit rough. (And actually, I think I like it better for the fact that it's super-depressing.) But I revile the man. It's got a lot to do with the fact that DMB seemed to be the "official" band of where I went to college. I have a tendency to revolt against things like that. :-)

Living in Charlottesville, I'm just glad that I wasn't here when the band hit it big. However, some of the solo and collaboration stuff he's doing is interesting. I especiallly like the vocals he did on that Blue Man Group track.

Gravedigger is okay for me. I don't mind hearing it on the radio. It's not overplayed here, which is fortunate. I'm certainly not going to buy the album and I still change the station when certain DMB songs are played, but I've mellowed as I've entered my dotage. ;)
