pixiecrinkleFrom time to time I find things on my back stoop, outside my kitchen door. It took a while, but I finally caught a squirrel in the act one day. I think they use the concrete steps as a place for a sunny lunch. They have even propped up acorns on the stair railing, against the wall of the house.
A few days ago, I walked outside, and something caught my eye in this exact spot. Here's
Yep, that's a slightly eaten sandwich. A nicely grilled panini sandwich from the looks of it. I have no idea how long it had been there when I discovered it.
I really doubt a squirrel stole someone's sandwich and stowed it all propped up like that. It had to have had human intervention to end up so perfectly balanced there. But why???
It's now gone. I can only imagine that some sort of critter ran off with it, or one of my neighbors assumed that I was obviously insane, since I'd left a sandwich there, and one of them took it away.

Date: 2004-01-04 10:31 am (UTC)Where I live in Dublin we have mice and Chipmunks, and with it being cold out (or raining, take your pick), they abandon food to get inside and hide.
