Lists & Reminders
Feb. 10th, 2004 03:01 pmOK -- lj is letting me log in, but won't show me the nav bar, so I'm posting this via email, which means it will likely look funny.
Opened up my book at lunch and found a whole list of things I'd been intending to post about here last week. I've been lax in my lj-ing bcause work has gotten busy. The notes are as follows, just as an insight into how my brain works. I've always said that no one can read any notes I write in meetings, becuase they end up as a weird conglomeration of English, my vowelless "shorthand," html & proofreading marks.

Skully's - A.

STS bday
movies: GWPE, WaDwTH, Sb
Girls' Day/Night: w/ K&S; general; w/ S,E,J
To this list, I will now add:
can-can shirt
LR rearrange
knee
strt hair
I will start tackling these topics now, starting with movies. I almost tried to make last week a movie a night week, but I fizzled out mid-week.
Monday night was Girl with a Pearl Earring with
automat76. They did an awesome job of adapting the book, though that didn't necessarily mean it was true to it in all parts. Colin Firth is so sexy he will make you squirm when he's lookign in the camera. Yum.
Tuesday night, went to see Win a Date with Tad Hamilton with K&S from work. We were the only ones in the theatre, so it was like being in someone's giant living room with stadium seating. The movie was actually funny. One of the better scripts for a "teen" film I've seen in a long time. If S&K had it in their power, they would totally try to fix me up with Topher Grace. He seems like such a nice boy. :-)
Wednesday night,
automat76 and I rented Spellbound, the documentary about kids going to the national spelling bee. It was very nice, and stirred up some very nostalgic feelings about my own attempts (I never advanced beyond my region, and usually lost just shy of being runner-up.) There's no way I could have gotten any further though. We were trying to spell the words along with the kids, and didn't do all that well. I was especially impressed with the girl who asked language of origin each time she spelled. That's virtually the only way to spell a word via logic, but you've got to know a lot about languages to do it. I think she was around 12 years old. Mind-boggling.
Oh yes, and the can-can shirt. I went to TJ Maxx this weekend and bought the single most garish item of clothing I've ever owned. It's a crinkly silk blouse, with elbow length sleeves that end in three layers of ruffles and ties. The print is on a beige background, with flowers of the following colors: turquoise, cream, hot pink, flourescent pink, lime green, medium green, olive green, plum, yellow, 2 more shades of hot pink, rose, orange, medium pink, baby blue, red, purple and gold. Someone actually walked into a room behind me and said, "Oh wow. The colors." as if he thought he were having an acid flashback.
