This is odd, but ok.

Did my taxes last night. As has been usual for the past couple years, I will owe federal taxes, but get a refund from Ohio. This year was a first though; the refund from Ohio will more than cover the amount I have to pay to the feds.

I'm still disgruntled about Shrubya's ridiculous tax cuts. The amount I owe this year is off by about that much from prior years, so I feel that's got to be the difference. It's not that I want to pay it, but it wouldn't kill me, and I didn't support that tax cut, especially in the wake of how things are economically in this country now.

Grrrrr....

I agree about the corporations. I also realize that I'm one of those people who don't mind calling for "taxing the rich," and on many levels, especially since taxes don't have anything to do with debt, I probably do qualify as "the rich." So I'm really ok with having to pay, especially since it's never been more than a few hundred dollars. What I don't like thinking about is that there a lot of people making a lot more than me who also don't have to pay. And our national debt is what now? And our schools lack how much funding? There's just not a lot of logic to the situation.

I'm okay with having to pay, too -- our income level is pretty high -- although I do resent the fact that we have to pay more as a married couple than the two of us would if we were not married but making the same amount we are now. I hate to credit Dubya for anything, but I *am* glad he reduced the marriage penalty, because it's totally unfair to have to pay more in taxes just because you're married with no deductions (mortgage, kids, etc). And I think that individuals' tax burden should be less than that of the corporations making the real money.
