Feb. 29th, 2004 09:04 amShopping yesterday with STS consisted of a quick martini lunch, then iPod goodies at the Apple store. Then wandering around and having him hold up clothing to me. We like a lot of the same stuff, but he was trying to convince me that I could pull off looks I have no business being in. That's a good thing. :-)
Then home to figure out the iPod. It keeps crashing my whole system. The computer doesn't seem to like having the iPod disconnected while it's still up and running, even if it says "OK to disconnect." As of this morning though, I have finally succeeded in getting one album transferred (Tori Amos' Boys for Pele) and I plan to get a couple more on there yet this morning. It's a slow process. I have about 4GB of music on my work laptop so I might try to install iTunes on it, then go directly to there. I don't want to have to re-mp3 all those CDs, given that I did it the first time over a course of years. Otherwise, I may have to burn them to CD, then transfer them to the other computer, which wouldn't be *that* bad.
The twins' bday last night was actually pretty fun. It was warm enough to go hang with the smokers outside, so I got to miss most of the amateur karaoke, which is just fine with me. Talked to one of their friends, who I gave piercing advice to two weeks at Iron Chef Family Dinner. She had since gotten her tragus done, and got the coolest barbell, like nothing I've ever seen. I first saw it and thought, "Oh no, after that whole conversation, she went and got it done with a gun," but then she recognized me and was showing me, and it turns out they make this nifty little diamond studs to fit on barbells now. It was actually pretty cute. And leads me to believe I can get the jewelry I want to my nose when I get it done. Turns out she's a hairdresser too. Clear up in Powell, but I enjoyed talking with her so much that I might just make the trek for the piece of mind of knowing going in that the haircut won't be a painful experience.
Apart from that, it seemed to be a night of startling revelations from the guys. I drove B&J to the party, so the three of us kept giving each other looks as all this developed. Dirty (who hates that name, but there would be too many people called "J" otherwise) kept apologizing to B. for things that happened several years ago. Each time he would see Jim come outside though, the arm went around me. He likes to tell me nice things, which I do appreciate, even if I think he's a bit screwed up, but he has a rather disarming way of staring at me that creeps me out just a bit. Then there's B., who's the brother of the twins, and M & T. He still resides up near Cleveland, but has been down here a couple of weekends recently. Last summer, he was hitting on me pretty hard at a party. He started talked about that with me, and said that he'd spent a long time thinking about me afterwards. Funny thing is, he mentioned that it was at a wedding, but I remember it happening another time on B&J's porch and just that he was being nice at the wedding. He was really quite sweet about the whole thing. He has a girlfriend that he's very happy with now (I kept making him repeat this.) I kind of feel bad, because at the time, I thought he was just fumbling drunkenly, but it turns out he was serious. I'm clueless sometimes. I need to go find the entries from that time period, because I'm pretty sure I did post about it here.
Alright, time to go see if this iPod thing actually works. I bought an FM transmitter too, so I can play music in the car. I'll hopefully get to test it out today in mom and dad's car since we'll be a couple of different places in C-bus. I have to remember to call STS later too--he wants them to look at a piece of furniture that my dad may be able to fix for them. I want them to see their house too -- mom and dad love renovations. :-)
