I have a house mouse. Haven't had one in about 2 years. I think maybe he's been here for a day or two because I've heard rustlings from the kitchen when I've been in the living room. Tonight I walked in the kitchen, and it stopped, so I returned to the couch to knit. Then I caught sight of something out of the corner of my eye. Then it ran behind my bookcase. I got up, it ran back toward the kitchen. So I walked over, and it was hiding behind the box of unassembled Ikea furniture propped against the wall. And it just looked so freakin' cute sitting there. So I left it alone. It ran clear around the other side of the room then toward the back door. Later on I noticed a small piece of wood out of place along the base of the door frame. I replaced it and haven't seen him since. I'm hoping he left, like the last mouse did. I don't like the idea of setting a kill trap.

I started the second slipper tonight and was knitting merrily along. I screwed something up after I did the heel shaping, but I had it fixed pretty much. Then I noticed that something just didn't look quite right. So I pulled the finished one out. They aren't even close to the same size. The only thing I can figure out is that I mistook the instructions for the 3" cuff to read 8". Which is fine, because that just means there's more cuff to roll back. I pondered grafting on another piece later since these are felted and it wouldn't be that noticeable, but I eventually decided against it. So I unraveled all the work I'd done tonight. So maybe mom's gift won't be on time after all.

Weird thing this afternoon: We had two meetings back to back in the same room. Between them, my boss and his administrative assistant came in the room and started looking under the conference table. We all felt stupid for standing there and asked what they were looking for. Turns out, he'd lost his wedding ring and had been in that conference room all morning. He was pretty upset with himself (he mentioned that he spins it around, which I have noticed before) but was pretty ok. He hadn't found it by the time we left our next meeting. I'm hoping I see him with it tomorrow because he merely forgot to bring it wear it when he came in to work. That's just not something I'd wish on anybody -- too many sitcoms have used that plot. :-(

So, I ordered these really cool rimless eyeglasses on Saturday. It's been increasingly difficult for me to wear my contacts at work since we moved into the new building, and wearing my trendy plastic frames all day is a bit fatiguing. So I ordered these to be super light-weight and not that noticeable to me when I'm wearing them.

I was supposed to have my eye doc fax the prescription in to the store where I bought these. No problem, right? I called Monday morning, got their voicemail, called back in a few minutes, got it again, and left a message. Never heard back. Around the end of the day, called again, got the voicemail again. So I called SEE, where I ordered the glasses, to see if they'd received the fax. They hadn't.

Tuesday, I called and left another message. Again, never heard anything. Called about four or five more times. Voicemail every time.

As of this morning, SEE still hasn't received the fax. So I called the eye doctor again. Voicemail. They have another location in Upper Arlington, so I called there and got an answer on the first ring. I explained the situation and the woman there apologized, saying they are no longer affiliated with the campus location (except through the website -- huh?) so she couldn't access my records. But she put me on hold and tried to call them. She got the voicemail too. She's not aware of them closing for any reason this week. (And one would expect them to put that on the voicemail anyway!!!) So, at her suggestion, I sent an email via the website.

I hope I can dig through my files tonight and find my copy of the prescription. I don't know if they'll accept the fax from me or not. If not, I am going to drive up there after work tomorrow and try to see what's up. I know OSU is on Spring Break this week, but I can't imagine that an eye doctor would close because of that.

The whole thing sucks because SEE is really super fast at turning around glasses orders and they are being dragged behind because of my eye doctor's inept office!!!! Not cool.

Huh. Just got an email that a Lasik place will be giving a presentation here at work in a week or two. Maybe that's a sign.

Just realized that Susan Powter (yes, the short haired 80s diet guru) was supposed to the opening act for Bitch & Animal Monday. What happened? Did she go on excessively early, or not at all?
