At 5:45, I woke up because there was pounding on a door. Took me a few minutes to realize it was pounding on the neighbor's door, not mine. I was disoriented, trying to figure out what time it was etc. It was weird, because it was cool enough outside that everyone's air conditioners had shut down, so I could hear everything going on outside.

Apparently, a friend of my neighbor's had his car parked across the street at the school, and someone smashed the window and took a bag of books. He thought they were probably looking for a laptop. He made a list of what wasn't taken--I can't believe what people will leave in their cars overnight. I mean, this is a fairly safe neighborhood, but if you leave thousands of dollars of electronics out visible in a car, you're tempting fate.

So I went back to sleep, and proceeded to have really weird dreams, about hanging out with my neighbor and her friends, and waking up to find all the cars in the neighborhood had been crashed into and dented on the drivers' side. These were the kind of dreams that even when your alarm wakes you up and you hit snooze, they still go on and get more and more twisted. Part of the dream involved my neighbor and her friends trying to help me decide what to serve my family at a party. Very odd.

Just ran into one of the guys who used to be on my project team. He is always teasing me about having dropped out of the CS program at Franklin. He just finished up a Masters in Computer Science there, at the same time as his wife, while they were both working 50+ hours a week as consultants and raising a 3 year old. They amaze and bewilder me, and I feel like a total slacker next to him.

So I told him my latest scheme, which was that I'd rather have a degree in Human Factors rather than programming but I couldn't find a program in Ohio. He told me that he knew someone in that program at Wright State in Dayton. Now, that's just too far to commute for classes, but I just looked, and they offer the master's degree as an online program! It looks like it's a year-long full-time, so I could maybe get it done in 2-3 years half time (if they even allow that).

Now my wheels are turning. I wonder if I could swing getting a part-time job and being a student full-time. That would be a major lifestyle shift, but if I could get a chunk of financial aid I might be able to do it. Hmmmmmm....

Of course, it's in the engineering school, so me getting in might be difficult. I might need to catch up on some math at the very least -- I took a couple classes at Franklin in the past couple years, but I haven't gone beyond calculus since my first year at Denison.

I'll have to peruse this this weekend. Of course, how this gets me closer to my goal of "yarn store lady" is beyond me. :-)

I am in the middle of delivering 90 Mb of development work to the source control. One of the developers had to delete some items before I could do mine.

His process took him two hours. I just started the second hour on mine, so I think I'm going to beat his time.

I'm thanking the deities for an iPod that's picking good music today. Last three songs: Radiohead, PJ Harvey, Cat Power.

Plus, after this finishes, I get to leave. Wheeeeeeeeeee!
