Freaky...

Yesterday, I got home from work around 5:30, and had a lot of stuff in my hands when I came in the door, including a UPS slip and a lot ofmail. When I got inside, I was apparently so eager to find out what my new gas bill amount was that I shut the door without removing my keys.

This morning, when leaving for work around 8:30, I couldn't find my keys anywhere. Yep, you guessed it, they were still in the door. Now, I live in a fairly safe neighborhood, but my door opens straight onto an alley where some semi-sketchy things go on from time to time. I think I'm really lucky that my keys were still there, that I woke up alone in the house, and that my car was still there (it was parked a mere 6 feet from the door.)

This may not top the time I left my car running, unlocked with the keys inside while it was parked on High Street, but it's pretty darn close. I need to keep my head on straight!

Thank goodness you're OK! This happened to me once, and it scared the crap out of me.

I've never done it at this place before--at my old place, I did it all the time, but it didn't bother me as much because I was on the 2nd floor of an apartment building. This, yep, freaky.

I had a friend who lived on the second floor of an apartnemt building, left her keys in the door one night, and had someone come in and try to rape her. And it was a decent neighborhood out in the suburbs.

Be careful!

Freaky indeed, given that on the news this morning two Capital students left their back door unlocked and some people came in, duct tape tied them up and pistol whipped them, as well as stealing all their stuff. Then again, that IS Bexley. Still, yikes.

Wow. I didn't hear that. Bexley's a bit more highbrow than my neighborhood. Yeeesh.
