Right after work
automat76 and I ran up to the fair to see how I fared (ha!) in the knitting competion.
I'm more than happy!!!!
My Bad Penny sweater took nothing in the sweater category, but the things that placed were amazing.
My capelet took 3rd in the original design category:

And my afghan, my sister's wedding gift, took 1st place in knitted afghans, and Best in Show in the Afghan class!!! Woo-hoo!!!

There have been several of you on my friends list who've not fared so well at the county level. My advice: enter the state fair. Their judges seem to have a better idea of what they're doing, across craft categories. No fun fur scarves and badly executed things were winning here.

Date: 2005-08-05 01:37 pm (UTC)The capelet was fun, because it was the first time I really wrote out my own pattern for something where size was important. I've done bags before, but hey, if a bag comes out too big or too small, it's not that big a deal. So I was almost more excited for my third than my other prize too! :-)
