I came in this morning to find a valentine's card with a Dum-dum sucker inside on my desk. It turned out to be from our employee events committee. Gag me.

I just now popped the lollipop in my mouth, despite reading the label to find the flavor was "Artificial Chocolate."

It tasted like a weird mix of flowers, banana and root beer. Ick. Into the trash it went.

And now I shall go in search of real chocolate.

I recommend godiva. Baring that if you have a Graters nearby some buckeye blitz ice cream is insanely good. The ultimate chocolate experience in Columbus though would have to be the chocolate cake from Buca Di Beppo. I'm always in search of something as good or better though!

No, no...the ultimate chocolate experience in Columbus is anything from Daniel at Pure Imagination at the North Market. And for ice cream, it's the dark chocolate gelato from Jeni's (though I'm not big on ice cream).

I like Godiva, especially the raspberry in dark chocolate bars, but they don't generally do dark chocolate dark enough for me. I really like Green and Black's and Cloud Nine's vegan stuff. Or the double dark (I don't remember what it's called, but it's something like 77% cacao) from Dagoba. The only milk chocolate I will really go out of my way for is the Dagoba Chai bar.

Hmmmm...upon re-reading that, perhaps I'm a chocolate snob!!!

Ohh. *rubs hands together* I'm a bit of a chocolate snob myself. I like GOOD chocolate above all else. I'm trying to remember which place Pure Imagination is in north market. I'm certain I've gotten something from there but it's been a while. Is Jeni's also in north market? If it's the place I'm thinking of you're absolutely correct.

I'm right there with you for the dark chocolate. I just don't have anyplace other than Godiva in Tuttle mall that's close to get a 'good' chocolate fix. So I end up settling for Graters most often. I'll have to track down this place you're getting Vegan Chocolate from. I'm always looking for new nitch places just haven't gone on a chocolate lovers hunt for a while. I'll have to band together with Tiffany and Amanda two of my good friends wives and see if we can't track some of these places down.

I get the vegan stuff at Wild Oats. I know you can get Dagoba at Cup of Joe, among other places, and I think you can get most of them at the Clintonville Community market as well.

Pure Imagination is the place that only sells chocolates, next to Firdous (middle eastern place) and the kitchen supply store.

Ah yes I got a dark chocolate covered grahm cracker there last year I believe. I'll have to check out the Wild Oats. The Clintonville Community market I'll have to check out. It's very likely right near my house!

Artificial chocolate from an employer is the antithesis of Valentine's Day.

Isn't it though?? I especially loved how the word "artificial" was written in a slightly smaller font than the word "chocolate," like the Spangler Candy Co.* thought I wouldn't notice at all.

*Yes, I've watched far too much "Unwrapped" on the Food Network.
